Golden Hills is the Tehachapi area’s largest unincorporated community, home to about 9,600 residents. It stretches west of the city along Highway 202, from established neighborhoods near town out to larger, more rural parcels with views of the surrounding mountains. You get the space and quiet of the country with everyday convenience close by: shopping, dining, schools and medical services in Tehachapi are typically 5 to 10 minutes away.

Golden Hills Homes for Sale

Most Golden Hills homes sell between about $300,000 and $650,000, with a median around $435,000 as of late summer 2026. Homes range from 1970s and ’80s ranch-style houses to newer two-story builds and a few multi-unit properties. Lots are typically larger than in town, from about a quarter acre to an acre, with some bigger parcels on the community’s western edge. Water in Golden Hills comes from the Golden Hills Community Services District, which pumps from the local Tehachapi groundwater basin. Many homes use private septic systems rather than sewer, and natural gas availability varies by street. Golden Hills sits at about 4,000 feet, with four seasons, occasional winter snow and a steady afternoon breeze.
